Present: Messrs. Bertrand, Caswell, Holt, Scowcroft, Wheeldon & Mrs Scowcroft
Apologies for absence: Messrs. Berry & Hodgert
Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.
Matters Arising: None
Correspondence: Paul Brandwood has resigned his position on the Committee and Inter-league involvement due to work commitments.
General Secretary's Report: We had been deluged with emails & paper work from the existing ETTA Chairman and his opponent in the coming elections. It was the present feeling of the Committee that we should stay as we are. However, W Holt would take the correspondence and will report back if necessary. There had been a query from a player about the procedure in the 5th set of a handicapped cup match. It was the opinion of the Committee that you do not adjust the rules because it is a cup match. Handicaps up to 4 result in a change of ends when either of the two players reaches 5. Handicaps 5 and above are played to a finish without a change of ends as one player has already reached 5 by virtue of the handicap.
Match Secretary's Report: Outstanding matches are: Prem - 7; Div.1 - 4; Div.2 - 2; Div. 3 - 1; Div. 4 - 1. An alternative web site has been proposed by another player. It was felt that both systems had their own advantages and disadvantages. The Match Secretary would contact Bury about their system as it had certain attributes in addition to ours. He would then contact the two involved stating what we would like and who could best provide it.
Treasurer's Report: Two advertisers were leaving us. All advertising money was in.
Inter-league Secretary's Report: The ladies played in February. The juniors play on 8th March but we are not sure who is organising it. The Match Secretary will investigate. The other vets teams are continuing to play and the seniors are due to play in May. It was felt that if an Inter-league secretary could not be found for next year then we should shelve Inter-league play for the foreseeable future.
Date and venue of next meeting: 7.30pm 3rd April at Meadow Hill TC
AOB: The General Secretary said that cup week in February had fallen on the half-term holiday. He suggested that it would be an improvement if the cup week in October as well as February always fell on half-term week to give flexibility for players taking holidays, since teams could opt out of cup matches but not league matches.
