Premier Division
The top
Premier Division team Ramsbottom A, were pushed all the way by visitors Little
Lever A before securing a narrow 5-4 win. This was thanks to the three wins by
Mick Moir, with Mark Ramsbottom and Andy Jackson adding one each. Steve
McNicholas scored two and Ron Durose and Graham Jeffries one each for the
losers.
Brian
Clemments scored two wins for Ramsbottom B who were beaten by visitors Flixton
7-2, he beat John Hilton and Jeff Craighill and lost out to Phil Biggs.
Wharton
scraped home 5-4 at Heaton A with three wins by Glen Payne and one each by Bob
Jackson and Barry Elliot, Paul Ward and Steve Barber scored two each for
Heaton.
Burning
Desire beat Ramsbottom C 5-4 with Lindsey Reynolds unbeaten, and Ben Armstrong
and Kevin Chapman added one each. Phil Riley scored two and Graham Young and
Graham Hoy one apiece for the visitors.
Radcliffe
CC returned a 9-0 win against a two man St Catherine’s B team.
Division
One
The
match between the top two teams in Division one, Nomads A and Little Lever C
resulted in a 5-4 win for Nomads who retain top spot. Dennis Collier and Derek Watmough both won
two and sub Gareth Palmer one. Little Lever’s Ric Simmons won one and John
Hutchinson was unbeaten.
David
Poytress and Gary Keenan both trebled for Little Lever B in their 6-3victory
over Ramsbottom D.
John
Bradbury won three and brother Alan two for Wingates who beat Nomads B 5-4,
Gareth Palmer winning two and Keith Dale and John Davies one each for the
losers.
Dave
Scowcroft scored three wins and Dave Bolton and Eddie Simon two apiece for
Ladybridge A who won 7-2 at Standish, with John Walsh winning the two Standish
sets.
Division
Two
Heaton
C stand proudly on the top of Division two with a ten point advantage over
Hilton D after their 8-1 win at Farnworth TTC A. John Scowcroft and Duncan Kay
were unbeaten and Bill Fairhurst added two. Farnworth’s Graham Clayborough won
the consolation set.
Hilton
D scraped home 5-4 after being 4-3 down against Meadow Bank. Which featured two
wins by Chris Naylor and Steve Jones plus one by Phil Noden. Meadow
Bank’s Alan Auxilly and Mike Brierley also won two. Meadow Bank had previously
beaten Farnworth TTC A 8-1 with trebles by Paul Pover and Mike Brierley and two
wins by Richard Hinchcliffe.
Three
apiece by Frank Green and Paul McCormick plus one by Steve Woods, gave Heaton D
their 7-2 win at BEN A, Jim Bollard and Mike Heaton winning one each for the
losers,
St
Catherine’s C won 6-3 at Ladybridge B with three wins by Paulina Orzechowski,
two by Roy Alty and one by Beth Farnworth. Brian Greenhalgh won two and John
Cole one for Ladybridge.
Bottom
team Hilton E lost 8-1 to Heaton E and 9-0 to Hilton C with John Lawrence
winning their set against Heaton, Hilton’s Alan Bradshaw, Tony Eardley and Len
Walker trebled, as did Heaton’s Mick Dunn and Eric Shaw with Dave Bevitt adding
two.
Heaton
followed with a 5-4 victory over Little Lever D which featured three wins by
Mick Dunn and one apiece by Eric Shaw and Dave Bevitt, Mark Martin and Alan Lansdale
winning two each for Little Lever.
Division
Three
Division
Three leaders Farnworth TTC B scored a comfortable 8-1 victory over Irlam Steel
who’s David Yates won their consolation set against Sam Evans. Nathan Patel and Daniel Harris were unbeaten
for the winners.
Hilton
H who have now played their outstanding fixtures, jump to second spot in the
table after they beat Irlam Steel 7-2, Meadow Hill 9-0, and Walkden Meths 5-4
in what proved to be a close match Malcolm
Wilcock was their outstanding player with trebles in all three matches, and Tony
Mason recorded two wins against Meadow Hill and Walkden, and George Berry two
against Irlam. For the losers Irlam’s
David Yates won two, and Walkden’s Richard Whittleworth two and Neil Unsworth
one.
Gary
Hibbert was unbeaten for Hilton G, who beat their ‘I’ team 5-4, Brian and Barak
Young added one each, and Mihn Lee and Andy Morey both doubled for the ‘I’
team.
St
Pauls’ Peel scored a comprehensive 8-1 win over
Division
Four
Hit
& Hope are one point ahead of Brass on the top of Division Four. They beat
Lads Club A 6-3 with three wins each by Tim Fields and Dave Brookes. Josh
Duffy. Jordon Hodgson and Dabby Buceni
winning one apiece for the Lads Club. Brass scored maximum points at Hilton J
with their three players Abdiwali Ali, Chris Ahmed and Edward Ademola unbeaten.
Ladybridge
C ran out 8-1 winners over Heaton F with John Cole and Andy Scully winning
three each and Colin Gregory two. Phil Beals won the set for Heaton.
Farnworth
TTC C also won 8-1 at Lads Club B, with Diane Moss losing her set against Lads
Club’s Jordan Perks and Katherine Oldfield and John Hilton both recording three
wins.
