Premier Division

The only team out of the top three in the Premier Division to play this week was Hilton Tameside. They recorded a 5-4 victory at Hilton A which moved them up to second in the table. The win featured three wins by Jake Shaw, which moves him into top spot in the top ten competition. Phil Biggs and Pete Parnall added one win each for Tameside, and Ron Pennington and Andy Michnowiec won two each for Hilton. Little Lever A took maximum points from their B team, as did Wharton against an under strength Burning Desire. Radcliffe CC scored a 6-3 win over Ramsbottom C, with three win by Nigel Hallows two by Rob Hall, and one by Mick Dore. Graham Hoy won two and Graham Young one for the losers.

Division One

Division One top team Heaton A whose three players Paul Ward, Steve barber and Matt Ward fill the top three places in the top ten competition, ran out 9-0 winners at bottom team Meadow Bank. They have a 12 point lead over St Catherine’s B who beat Heaton C 6-3. The St Cath’s win featured three wins by Stuart Wallis, two by Marc Townsend, and one by Kristof Pinter. Dave Scowcroft won two and Duncan Kay one for Heaton. Nomads A won 7-2 at Wingates which included a treble by Dennis Collier, as did Little Lever C at Ramsbottom D with John Hutchinson their unbeaten player. Three wins by Dave Bolton plus two by Lee Davenport proved to be decisive in the 5-4 win by Ladybridge A over Heaton B. Barry Dobbins winning two and Paul Mort and Ian Craig one apiece for the losers.

Division Two

Grubba Fans top Division Two for the first time after taking maximum points from Little lever D. While Nomads B. two points adrift in second place won 7-2 at Hilton D. Their win featured three wins by Brett Haslam and two apiece by Dave Holden and John Davies. Heaton D in third spot won 7-2 at Hilton E with three wins by John Cartledge and two each by Alan Crompton and John Scowcroft, Steven Ross recorded the two Hilton wins. Mike Heaton won three and Rod Hall two for BEN A who beat Heaton F 5-4. Rene Seidel was unbeaten for Farnworth TTC A who beat Hilton C 6-3. Heaton E won a close match with Meadow Hill A 5-4, in which three players recorded two wins. Coburg ’s Bob Bent is the new top ten leader on 28 wins after his team took maximum points from Ladybridge B

Division Three

St Catherine’s D retained their unbeaten record on the top on Division Three with a 9-0 win at Ladybridge C. Two of their players Ben Dudley and Stuart McCaig share top spot in the top ten competition each with 29 wins. Hilton H in second place suffered a 5-4 loss by their F team, whose Barak Young was unbeaten. Alan Hibbert won the three sets for BEN B who were beaten 6-3 by visitors Farnworth SC. A treble by John Riley plus doubles by Andrew Riley and Roy Platt gave Meadow Hill B their 7-2 victory over St Paul ’s Peel whose Mick Murray won their two sets. Three wins by Roy Alty and Paul Spencer and one by Beth Farnworth resulted in a 7-2 win for St Catherine’s E over Walkden Meths

Division Four

Farnworth TTC B and Hilton I share top place in Division Four, both on 65 points. Farnworth won 6-3 at Brass, with trebles by Nathan Patel and Daniel Harris. Hilton scored maximum points against their K team after losing 6-3 at Hilton J. Minh Le and James Storey were unbeaten for the J team. Four players scored two wins in the match which Heaton G beat Brass 5-4. Boyzone, whose Jez Grimwood is the top ten leader beat St Catherine’s F 9-0, and the 6-3 win by Heaton H over Lads Club B featured trebles by Dave Heaton and Sam Walsh.
