Top team Ramsbottom A have opened a 40 point gap on Tameside who are second in the Premier Division table after their 7-2 win at Burning Desire. Again Mick Moir was unbeaten for the winners, and Lindsey Reynolds won the two for the losers. While Tameside lost 7-2 at Little Lever A whose Graham Jeffries trebled, and Steve McNicholas and Ron Durose added two apiece. Wharton beat Little Lever B 8-1, with three wins by Glen Payne and Bob Jackson plus two by Barry Elliott. Keith Jackson scored the three wins for Ramsbottom C who lost to visitors Hilton A 6-3

Division One

Heaton A consolidated their top spot in Division One by taking maximum points from Hilton B, while St Catherine’s B in second place only fielded two players at Little Lever C where they lost 5-4. Nomads A who are third in the table also scored maximum points against Heaton C. Lee Davenport trebled for Ladybridge who lost 5-4 at Ramsbottom D, and three wins by Alan Bradbury, and two each by John Bradbury and Atul Sheth gave Wingates their 7-2 victory over bottom team Meadow Bank.

Division Two

Grubba Fans top two players Lukasz Serdiuk and Marek Maraszkiewicz both trebled to give them a 6-3 win against Hilton D. They top the table, one point ahead of Nomads B who beat the team in third place Coburg 6-3. This match featured two wins from four players. An Alan Crompton treble, supported by doubles from John Scowcroft and John Cartledge gave Heaton D their 7-2 win at Hilton C. Steve Jones trebled for Meadow Hill A who won 5-4 at Ladybridge B, as did Steve Peet for Heaton F who beat Farnworth TTC A 6-3. Heaton E won 5-4 at BEN B, where three players recorded two wins.

St Catherine’s D are invincible on the top of Division Three, this week they scored a 7-2 victory over Hilton F with three win by top ten leaders Ben Dudley, and two apiece by Debbie Wilson and sub Beth Farnworth. Hilton G in second place were beaten 5-4 by visitors St Catherine’s E, whose Roy Alty won three and Beth Farnworth two. BEN B who are also in contention for second spot, won 7-2 at Irlam Steel with three wins by Alan Hibbert and Phil Herd, plus one by Mike Aspinall. All three Walkden Meths players, Richard Whittleworth, Steve Kelsall and Neil Unsworth won two in their 6-3 win over Hilton H. A Roy Platt treble and doubles by Jackie Smith and John Riley featured in the 7-2 win by Meadow Hill B over Ladybridge C. Mick Murray scored three wins for St Paul ’s Peel who were beaten 5-4 by visitors Farnworth SC.

Only three matches played in Division Four this week, the two top two teams didn’t play but, Hilton J in third place one point behind Lads Club A scored maximum points at St Catherine’s F. Dave Jones trebled for Heaton G in their derby match with their H team but, they only fielded two players and went down 5-4. Boyzone scraped a 5-4 win over Hilton I with two wins by Jez Grimwood and Mick Barnes, plus one by Ian Coupe, with Gordon Stone unbeaten for the losers.
