Premier Division

In their final match of the season, Premier Division champions Ramsbottom A suffered their first defeat of the season, 5-4 at the hands of their B team. The damage was done by Derek Yeung, who beat the three regular A team players in convincing style, and Brain Clements and Khmal Hussain who each added one win. This win, plus a 6-3 victory over Ramsbottom C moved the Rammy B team into second place in the table, to give their club the two top places. Tameside drop to third place after losing to Hilton A 6-2, both teams could only field two players. Phil Riley resurrected memories of his past ability, when he scored three wins for Little Lever B in their 5-4 win over his former team mates at Little Lever A, he was supported by two wins from Ian Lansdale. Nigel Hallows trebled for Radcliffe CC who beat Rams C 6-3.

Mick Moir of Ramsbottom A wins the top ten on 55 wins 8 better than team mate Andy Jackson.

Division One

Division One champions Heaton A scored maximum points against Meadow Bank to consolidate their top spot. St Catherine’s B won 8-1 at Heaton C to clinch second place, their win featured trebles by Stuart Wallis and Paul Bradwood and a double by Marc Townsend. Nomads A and Ramsbottom D, third and fourth in the table scored 8-1 and 7-2 wins respectively. For Nomads against Wingates, Dennis Collier and Derek Watmough trebled as did Martin Wyatt for Ramsbottom at Little Lever C. Ladybridge A won 5-4 at Heaton B where four players scored two wins.

Division Two

Nomads B scored 16 points in their last two matches to become Division Two Champions. They took maximum points from Hilton D, and ran out 7-2 winner at BEN A, which gives them a 13 points advantage over Grubba Fans who finish second. In the decisive match with BEN both Dave Holden and Brett Haslam were unbeaten. The Grubba trio of Lukasz Serdiuk, Marek Maraszkiewicz and Wesley Roper won 9-0 at Little lever D. Coburg also won 9-0 at Ladybridge B Steve Jones trebled for Meadow Hill A who lost 5-4 to Heaton E, as did Chris Naylor and Roger Bertrand for Hilton C in their 7-2 win over Farnworth TTC A. BEN B scored a 6-3 victory over Heaton F which included three wins by Mike Heaton.

Marek Maraszkiewicz of Grubba Fans wins the top ten with 68 wins, three ahead of Bob Bent of Coburg.

Division Three

The Division Three champions as previously reported are St Catherine’s D, and Hilton G finish runner-up after their 6-3 victory over Irlam. The win which featured three wins by Jim Eardley, moves them three points clear of BEN B with one match still to play. Jackie Smith trebled for Meadow Hill B in their 7-2 win at St Paul’s Peel, and Roy Alty won three for St Cath’s E who lost 5-4 at Walkden Meths. Three wins by Tony Mason and two by Alan Revell gave Hilton H a 5-4 victory over their F team.

The late Ben Dudley won the top ten with 57 wins.

Division Four

Farnworth TTC B in their first season in the league are confirmed as the Division Four champions. They are five points ahead of Hilton J, who are eight points ahead of Lads Club A who have one match to play against Farnworth. The Farnworth team clinched the title with a 7-2 victory over Brass which included a treble by Nathan Patel and doubles by Daniel Harris and Sam Evans. Hilton J beat Lads Club A 6-3 with three wins by Minh Le two by Andy Morey and one by John Parker. Three wins by Martin Hulton and Sam Walsh plus two by Jay Patel gave Heaton H their 8-1 win at Lads Club B.

Two players lead the top ten on 48 wins, Craig Duncan of lads Club A, and Minh Le of Hilton J. Craig has one match to play which gives him the opportunity to be the top ten winner.
